The Oakland IMC is one of approximately 300 Seafarer's Clubs worldwide. We support the merchant mariner during his/her (usually) short stay in the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Area. We are an ecumenical group sponsored and staffed by volunteers from the Episcopal Diocese of California, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland, the Sierra Pacific Lutheran Synod, the American Baptist Church and the Korean Presbyterian Church. We are a non-profit group. Our support comes from individual and corporate donations, The International Transportation Federation, and private donations from our many friends throughout the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Area.
This year, our Christmas at Sea program will deliver 2,500 gift bundles to merchant seafarers away from home during the Christmas Season.

The Apostleship of the Sea (or "Stella Maris" as it is known internationally) is the official body within the Roman Catholic Church ministering to the seafaring community. The Anglican Church's Missions to Seafarers website (Better known as the "Flying Angel") is also worth a visit. Likewise, the International Transport Workers' Federation website is quite good.
